Norman Winn, 81, of Ollie, died Monday, November 4, 2013, in Ollie.

Norman was born January 21, 1932, in Mahaska County, the son of Afton and Zola Woody Winn. He graduated from Ollie High School with the class of 1949. Following graduation he served four years in the United States Navy. Following his discharge he returned to Ollie.

On October 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to Joan Flynn. Norman spent his entire working life operating heavy equipment. He retired from being an operating engineer in 1978 due to his failing eye sight. In retirement he worked for his brother and cousin in the field tile business for 25 years. He was also the maintenance man at Senior Housing in Ollie for the past 16 years.

Norman loved to fish and enjoyed many trips to Canada. He was a member of the Ollie Baptist Church, the Eagles, and the American Legion.

His family includes his wife of over 59 years Joan Winn of Ollie; two daughters, Debra Ann Brown of Tempe, Arizona and Denise Rosalie (& Milo) Greiner of Keota; three grandchildren, Amy Griener, Beau Sieren and Brady Sieren; four great grandchildren; a brother; Lyle (& Genevia) Winn of Sigourney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis James Winn; two brothers, Merlyn Winn and Roger Winn, and a sister; Helen Jean Blake.

As was Norman’s wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned.
Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Ollie Cemetery at a later date
