Norma Denburger, 88, of Richland and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, August 6, 2017, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield. She was born Monday, July 25, 1929, in Fremont, the daughter of John W. and Alma Iowa Bridges Stout.

Norma attended Cedar Creek Country School and Fremont Consolidated School. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the Class of 1947 and later attended Iowa School of Beauty.

On February 24, 1950, Norma was united in marriage to Leland Denburger, they later divorced.

Norma farmed with Leland for several years following their marriage. She later worked at Elmhurst Country Club, Pella Country Club and in food service at William Penn University for over 10 years. Lastly, She worked at Wigg’s Country Store in Oskaloosa until 2007 when she moved to Richland to be closer to her daughter.

Norma enjoyed gardening, bowling, garage sales, embroidery, sewing, traveling and baking. She was a member of the Ideal Club, the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa and the ladies circle at First Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam (& Mike) Hadley of Richland; a son, Randy (& Sheila) Denburger of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Kim, Tess, Katie, Sarah, Andy and Betsy; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Lois Bainbridge of Oskaloosa and Blanche Denburger of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Amie Vandegeest; and two sisters: Hazel Dix and Ruth Reed.

As was her wish, Norma’s body has been cremated.
No visitation is planned at this time.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Cemetery at a later date. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Oskaloosa Crisis Center or Oskaloosa Christian Church Building Fund.
