NORCOTT, WARRIORS TAKE TITLES IN MARYVILLE

Maryville, MO – For the second time this season, the No. 11 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women’s Golf squad took home the team title as the Warriors captured medalist honors at the Graceland Spring Invitational at the Mozingo Golf Course. The Warriors won the event by a remarkable 44 strokes.

As a team, Indian Hills fired an 89-over, 665, leading the nine-team field wire-to-wire. Competing as one of just two junior college programs in the event, the Warriors were led by four individual top-10 performances, including a first-place finish from sophomore Poppy Norcott (Wiltshire, United Kingdom/Hartpury College).

Norcott starred for the Warriors as the sophomore captured her second consecutive first-place finish after taking top honors at the Hillcat Classic on March 10. Norcott shot a tournament low 17-over, 161 to win by four strokes. Norcott was one of just two individuals in the 59-player field to fire a round below 80 after posting a tournament-low 75 in the opening round.

Norcott led the field with four birdies and added an eagle for the second consecutive event. The sophomore carded the eagle on the Par-5, 433 yard hole No. 6 in the opening round.

Sophomore Jade Blakely (St. Michael, Barbados/Rabun Gap Nacoochee) posted her best finish for the Warriors in the spring with a third-place showing after firing a 22-over, 166. Blakely shaved off four strokes to finish the second round with an 81. Blakeley led all individuals on Par 4 and Par 5 holes throughout the tournament.

Fellow sophomore Taylor Pacheco (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian) tied with Blakely in third-place after back-to-back rounds of 83. Pacheco tallied a pair of birdies over the course of the two-day event for the Warriors.

Sophomore Sofia Saavedra (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Dawere International) tied for fifth overall for the Warriors after jumping two spots on the final day of competition thanks to an 85 through the final 18 holes.

Sophomore Mackenzie Reeves (Rogers, AR/Heritage Rogers) fired an 86 on the final day to climb the leaderboard and finish in a tie for eighth place overall.

The Warriors are back in action April 8 for a one-day event at the Spring Statesmen Shootout in Oskaloosa, IA.
