NM Volleys to second at Chariton

CHARITON – North Mahaska’s volleyball team has four losses on the season, three of those to Albia. Saturday the Warhawks worked their way into the championship at the Chariton tournament where they fell to Albia 2-1 in sets.

On the North Mahaska defeated Pleasantville, 21-11, 21-17; won in three sets over Southeast Warren, 21-12, 18-21, 15-7. NM swept Chariton 25-21, 25-13 then lost to Albia 19-25, 25-19, 4-15. In the finals match Albia won 19-21, 21-16, 16-14.

On the day, Regan Grewe led in kills with 22 while Kayla Readshaw and Breckyn Schilling each had 17. Sydney Andersen added 14 and Abby Van Weelden hit 10. Andersen led in service aces with eight and Cali Sampson had six.

Libby Hargis was the assist leader with 43 and Lily Hartwig added 22. Ally Livezey earned seven. Livezey led the team in digs with 33 while Grewe had 30. Gracie DeGeest dug up 20 balls, Hargis 17 and Andersen with 14.

North Mahaska improved to 6-4 on the season and played at Montezuma Monday.
