NM Girls Host Regional First Round
DES MOINES – North Mahaska’s volleyball team will host a first round contest Oct. 17 as regional play begins. The Warhawks will host Mormon Trail at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17.
Region 8 has two of the state’s top 15 teams including No. 10 Holy Trinity in North Mahaska’s side of the bracket. If North Mahaska wins, they will travel to Wayland to take on the winner of WACO-Melcher-Dallas. In the top side of the bracket Holy Trinity hosts Wayne of Corydon and Sigourney hosts Seymour. Those winners play at Holy Trinity on Oct. 19.
The team to beat in the Region 8 bracket is No. 3 Burlington Notre Dame. They drew the first round bye. If North Mahaska wins out, the Warhawks likely would meet Notre Dame in the regional final on Wednesday, Oct. 26. State tournament will be contested at the Xtream Arena in Coralville Oct. 31-Nov. 3.
