NM Boys Third at L-S

LYNNVILLE – North Mahaska’s boys’ cross country team placed three runners in the top 20 to capture third at the Lynnville-Sully Invitational Sept. 17. The girls only had three runners so did not compete in the team race.
Sophomore Lane Harmon led the North Mahaska boys contingent placing 12th in 19 minutes 2 seconds. Anthony Goemaat was 16th in 19:13 and Nate Sampson took 19th in 19:41. Freshman Brayden Veiseth ran 29th in 20:30 and senior Grant Smith rounded out the scoring in 39th in 21:28. Also running were Andy Knockel, Brady Sterling, Garrett Lamb and Beau Simmons.

Pekin was the team race with 46 points. Pella Christian was second with 72 followed by North Mahaska with 102. Montezuma was a distant fourth at 134 and host L-S was fifth with 135.

Natalie LaRue paced the NM girls placing 13th in 23:12. Addison Schilling was 22nd in 24:31 and Claira Bacon took 55th in 30:00.

The teams run at BGM on Monday, Sept. 21.
