New Sharon Man Killed In Single Vehicle Accident
In a tragic incident on February 16, 2024, just after 6:40 am, on Highway 146 and 520th Ave, a New Sharon man lost his life.
A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 30-year-old Jamal Gant of Oskaloosa, left the roadway. The vehicle rolled into the east ditch, landing on its roof and resulting in the death of 31-year-old Cody T. Roberts from New Sharon.
Gant was injured and taken to Mahaska Health.
Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office and Montezuma Fire and Rescue assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
Icy roads were identified as a significant factor in this fatal crash.
