Navy and Gold Rolling for National Crown
Oskaloosa–The Lady Statesmen bowling team has a chance to achieve eternal glory next weekend as it competes at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships.
The Lady Statesmen, ranked #11 on the collegebowling.com website, will travel to Lincoln, Neb. for the 16-team tournament that runs from Thursday through Saturday, April 19-21, at Sun Valley Lanes. The event begins with 32 Baker games that set up a double-elimination bracket tournament.
The top four finishers from last month’s four sectionals will be facing off, headlined by #1 Pikeville (Ky.).
Also joining the field is #2 Wichita State (Kan.), #3 Lindenwood (Mo.), #4 Robert Morris (Ill.), #5 Webber International (Fla.), #6 McKendree (Ill.), #7 Midland (Neb.), #8 Newman (Kan.), #9 Wright State (Ohio), #14 Maryland-Eastern Shore, #17 Florida State, #18 West Texas A&M, #20 Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.), #32 Kutztown (Pa.), and #45 Stephen F. Austin State (Texas).
The Lady Statesmen will be paced by all-Midwest Collegiate Conference performers Breanne Underwood (Sr., Treynor, Treynor HS) and Samantha Powell (Jr., Herriman, Utah, Bingham HS), who are currently ranked #16 and #46 in the nation, respectively.
The ITC women’s finals will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network on May 18 at 9 p.m. (CST).
