Nancy Ivie Stringfellow, 73, died January 3, 2023 in Burke, Virginia. Nancy was born on December 22, 1949 in Stephenville, Texas and was the daughter of Owen Hartwell Ivie and Ruth Yvonne Bohannon.
Nancy grew up in Big Spring, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Nancy was a member of the Texas Tech Marching Band.
Nancy taught kindergarten in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas.
Nancy married David John Stringfellow from Rose Hill, Iowa in Big Spring on April 18, 1981.
Nancy was a member of Fairfax Church of Christ and Texas Tech Alumni Association. She was also a member of several lineage societies including: Jamestowne Society, Baronial Order of Magna Charta, Order of the Norman Conquest, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States of America, Society of Descendants of Lady Godiva, First Families of Kentucky, First Families of Mississippi, and United Daughters
of the Confederacy.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and had traveled to Ireland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Alpine countries, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, and Antarctica. She enjoyed watching sports – especially Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys football.
She was a wonderful wife, wonderful mother and loved her grandsons.
Nancy ran her Christian race with a remarkable steadiness and finished in triumph.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children: Ann Catherine Stringfellow of Burke, Virginia and John Austin Stringfellow of Lincoln, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Adrienne Stringfellow of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Jefferson Stringfellow, Jackson Stringfellow, Joshua Stringfellow and William Clark, all of Lincoln, California; and two sisters, Susan Watts of Pipe Creek, Texas and Sandy Massey of Joshua, Texas.
Burial will be in Wymore Cemetery in Mahaska County, Iowa.
