NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards Given to Three Statesmen
Oskaloosa–Three members of the William Penn baseball team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes Thursday.
Nick George (Sr., Sarina, Ontario, Sociology) paced the trio with a 3.75 Grade Point Average entering the spring semester.
Braiden McCann (Fr., Loveland, Colo., Business Management) was right behind him with a 3.74 GPA, while Blair Speas (Jr., O’Fallon, Mo., New Media) also reached the standard at 3.66.
The honor is the second for both George and McCann, while Speas is a first-time recipient.
Over 1,300 baseball players from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
