When you are playing the #3 ranked team in class 3A you know before the game starts you will have to be at your best and hope they have an off night, to be able to compete and possibly pull off the upset. Whatever they are drinking in the water at Dallas Center Grimes, other towns want to get in on it including the Indians.

What the Indians received was a basketball lesson, and what the Indians saw in the Mustangs is, more than likely, a state title contender, as the Mustangs did what they wanted, when they wanted to the Indians. DCG raced out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. A long 3 pointer by Ryan Reiter brought it to 9-3, but that was the closest the game would get. DCG’s ball pressure and in-your-face defense was too much for Osky to handle. The speed and hand quickness was troublesome for the Indians the entire half as Osky went into the locker room down 40-9. Reiter had all of Osky’s points as the only bright spot.

In the third quarter Osky did manage to have some good offensive possessions as they got lay ins by Spencer Medlin, Max Johnson, Nate Van Veldhuizen and Reiter, as Osky surpassed their point total from the first half and found them down 52-19 after three.

In the fourth quarter Osky continued to struggle to find offense. They did get a baseline jumper from Freshman Jack Moore and two layups from Sophomore Wade Votroubek to close the scoring as the Mustangs cruised to the 67-27 victory.

The Indians were led by Reiter with 11 points, Medlin and Votroubek with 4 apiece. Osky turns right around and has to play class 4A Indianola on Saturday in a nonconference game.
