Michael Lee Jackson, 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Michael was born on August 8, 1947 to Oran and Willette (Smith) Jackson in Centerville, Iowa.

Michael graduated from Centerville high school in 1965, after graduation Michael joined the United States Air Force.

Michael was united in marriage to Ruth Ethel Sheils on June 5, 1966. This union was blessed with three children. Michael and Ruth later divorced.

Michael then married Denise Boal on July 21, 1984 and had three sons.

Michael’s career path took him in many directions, including transporting inmates for the sheriffs department, semi truck driving and working for Curl’s Machine Shop, the family business. Michael found his true calling in ministry. Michael graduated from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary with a masters degree in May 1997. Michael spent many years at the First Christian Church in Eddyville, Iowa before retiring.

After retirement, Michael’s hobbies included attending as many of his grandchildren’s activities as possible and taking long drives with no real destination.

Mike is survived by his wife, Denise Jackson of Eddyville, IA; his sons, Mick (& Laura) Jackson of Tulsa, Ok, Mark (& Rachel) Jackson of Vail, IA, Ryan (& Marquee) Jackson of Eddyville, IA, Brent (& Gina) Jackson of Eddyville, IA and Brandon (& Leah) Jackson of Albia, IA; Surviving grandchildren are: Jade, Jordan, Alex, Tyson, Sophie, Joey, Henry, Melissa, Alex, Nicholas, Gabriel, Khelee, Anna, Bryleigh, Carter, Reece, Khallie, Novalee, Mallory, Maddox, Mckennah and Zayden; and three great grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Linda Dunham of Illinois and Raymond Jackson of Maryland; and his daughter, Carolyn Wade of Carroll, IA.

As his wish, there will be a Celebration of Life Visitation on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, from 4-6 p.m., with family present.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa, or Stephens Memorial in Oskaloosa.
