Michael Lee Grim, age 76, 0f 0skaloosa, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Mike was born on February 27, 1944 to Victoria Reed Grim and Oscar Wayne Grim.

Mike graduated from Eddyville High School in 1962, William Penn University in 1967 and later the Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking.

Mike served in the U.S. Army First Calvary Division (Airmobile) 1967-1969 (Vietnam & Ft. Carson, Colorado).

Mike married Veronica Francis Mitrisin on October 17, 2010.

Mike enjoyed a long career in banking, beginning with Iowa State Bank (Des Moines) and the last 14 years with the Eddyville branch of First Iowa State Bank (Albia). He also worked ten years in transportation.

Mike found many ways to be involved in his community and was active in several organizations throughout his lifetime, including Mahaska Health Board of Trustees, First Presbyterian Church Session, Eddyville Ruritan Club, Tallcorn District Ruritan, Eddyville Pleasant Valley Manor Board, Eddyville Funeral Chapel Board, Eddyville Library Board, and Rollin’ Oldies Car Club.

Mike is survived by his wife, Veronica; his two daughters, Robin (& Matthew) Bishop of Union, Iowa and Melissa Grim Olshesky (& Jeff Olshesky) of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons: Kellen and Nathaniel Bishop; and granddaughter, Bridget Olshesky; and a brother, Clark (& Mary) Grim of Granada Hills, California.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; and his brother, Melvin Schneider.

Mike was a kind and generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand or simply a listening ear. He believed in his convictions (and would spar about politics with anyone interested). But no matter the differences, Mike’s heart was big enough for everyone. He loved horses, classic cars, traveling and above all else, his family.

Visitation with the family of Mike Grim, was held from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Eddyville City Park. Private family services to be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 with Interment to follow with military rites.

Memorials may be made in Mike’s name to these organizations that were such an important part of his life: Mahaska Health Foundation, Oskaloosa First Presbyterian Church, or Eddyville Ruritan.
