May has been designated “Better Hearing and Speech Month”, not only in Oskaloosa but communities across the country that want to help promote and encourage early detection of communicative disorders.

This annual event helps to raise awareness of prevention and detection of communication disorders. Proper detection and treatment can help to raise the quality of life of those who experience these issues.

Maria Martin says that in order to help promote better hearing during the month of May, they will be running different specials and events at Mahaska Hearing Aid Center.

During the month of May, Mahaska Hearing Aid Center will be doing free hearing tests for those interested in having their hearing tested. Maria Martin says that you only need to contact them at the office by phone, (641) 673-5643, or you can stop by their location at 714 A Ave West in Oskaloosa to make an appointment.

May 25th and 26th they will also be having new models of hearing aids that feature wireless connections to television sets, computers and phone systems. Maria says it is best to call for an appointment, especially during their 2 day event, so you can get your hearing tested at that time. They will also be having different specials such as a buy one get one free special on hearing aid batteries.
