Mary Edna Collins, 93, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Fremont, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born Monday, June 2, 1924, in Unionville, Iowa, the daughter of Henry Ray and Amanda Melvina Foster Strunk.

Edna attended school at Fremont Independent School.

On June 11, 1941, Edna was united in marriage to Linzy Collins at Lancaster, Missouri. Linzy died November 29, 1996.

Edna was a homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, drawing with pastel pencils and helping and sharing with others. She was a charter member of the Park Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, V.B.S., kept the freezers full of homemade cookies, did building maintenance, helped publish the bulletin and helped run the food bank.

Edna is survived by her daughter: Mary (& Robert) Elder of Oskaloosa; her son: Reverend Linzy (& Pam) Collins, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: June Strunk of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a great grandson, Joshua Linzy Fogel; three brothers: Perl, Jack and Dick Strunk; four sisters: Ruth Taylor, Lucille Gates, Fern Lowe and Daisy Morrison.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 12 noon in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Reverend Linzy Collins, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery, south of Fremont.
Visitation will begin Saturday, August 26, 2017, after 11 A.M. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel Saturday from 11 A.M. until service time at noon to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Park Church of Christ, Cedar Township Fire Department or Oskaloosa Care Center.
