Mary Ann Moore, 81, of Indianola and formerly of Oskaloosa died Monday, June 10, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Mary Ann was born Sunday, May 8, 1932 in Iowa City, the daughter of George and Florence Waldschmidt Schreiber. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Iowa City with the class of 1950. Mary Ann then attended the Mercy College and completed the x-ray tech program in 1952. Early on she worked at the Gilfin Clinic in Bloomfield, Iowa. On September 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Myron Moore in the Bloomfield Catholic Church, Myron died on April 23, 1991. Following marriage, Myron and Mary Ann moved to Oskaloosa and she stayed home to care for her family. After her children were in school, Mary Ann went back to work as an x-ray tech, first at the old Mercy Clinic in Oskaloosa and lastly at Family Medical Center in Oskaloosa until her retirement in 1994. Mary Ann moved to Indianola in 2012. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, volunteering at the ecumenical cupboard, taking road trips, camping, and traveling.

She is survived by her six sons: Martin (& Sheryl) Moore, Mark Moore, Michael Moore, Mathew (& Paula) Moore, Monte (& Rebecca) Moore all of Oskaloosa, and Tony (& Kim) Moore of Ames; two daughters: Melinda (& Greg) Jackson of Hartford, Iowa and Maureen (& Bruce) Deitch of Corpus Christi, Texas; 13 grandchildren: Shane, Hayley, Phillip, Sheri, Tasha, Dana, Laura, Jacob, Jordan, Heidi, Nathan, Austin and Connor; 8 great grandchildren; three sisters: Aleen Murphy of Iowa City, Doris (& Doug) Ratliff of Pensacola, Florida, Carol Laschke of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers: George (& Regina) Schreiber of Solon, Iowa and Dean (& Diana) Schreiber of North Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson: Preston; and a brother: Charles Schreiber.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Jeff Belger officiating.
As was her wish her body will be cremated following the mass and burial of her urn will be at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 11 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Thursday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
