Mary Ann passed away Wednesday morning at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Mary Ann Estes, daughter of Arvene Merle and Nina Mary Shipley Estes, was born August 18, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a 1970 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Mary Ann lived in Spokane, Washington for several years, before returning to Oskaloosa to be near her family. She has worked as a kitchen assistant for the last 20 years at Mahaska Health Partnership. Mary Ann enjoyed reading and classic rock music.

Her family includes her daughter, Krisann Estes of Oskaloosa and a brother, Merle Leslie Estes, Sr. also of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

As was her wish, her body has been cremated and private burial of her ashes will be held at a later date at Abingdon Cemetery in Jefferson County, Iowa.
