Marsha Ferree, 76, of Ottumwa and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Marsha Lynn Ferree was born June 24, 1947, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, while her father served in the United States Army.
While still young, her family moved back to Iowa, and Marsha attended Oskaloosa High School. She graduated with the class of 1965.
After her education, Marsha married Von Leroy Shadduck, and a son, Christopher, was born to this union. They later divorced.
Marsha began her working career with Mahaska Health as a nurse’s assistant.
On March 11, 1972, Marsha was united in marriage to Danny Ferree.
Marsha and her family briefly moved to Spokane, WA, and later returned to Oskaloosa. When she returned, Marsha worked for Big Smith’s Overall Factory and Stephens Dry Cleaning before returning to Pella Corp. She retired from Pella Corp in 2009.
Marsha was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Davey Allison. She and Danny enjoyed trips to different race tracks, including Daytona, Phoenix, and Michigan. Camping and simply enjoying a beer with friends were other times Marsha enjoyed. She cherished all of her dogs, enjoyed Elvis’ music, and watching a good western. Marsha often watched a Western in the kitchen, while Danny watched “anything but” a Western in the living room. Most of all, Marsha is remembered as trying to be a good person with a big heart and always willing to help.
Marsha’s family includes her son Chris (Rachelle) Shadduck of Ottumwa, Iowa, her step-daughters Rhonda (William) Rush of New Sharon, Iowa, and Sheri (Bobby) Cowen of Ocala, FL, ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, her brothers, Jim (Nancy) Sparks, Phil Sparks and Pat Sparks, and many nieces and nephews.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Danny, on February 17, 2020.
Funeral services for Marsha will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Pastor Chad Lierman of Trinity Church officiating. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with the family present from 4-6 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wapello and Davis County or the Oskaloosa VFW.
