Marlin “Dean” Summers, age 77, of Albia, IA, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Monroe County Hospital, surrounded by his family, under the care of EveryStep Hospice. Dean was born on October 27, 1944, in Chariton, IA, to David and Ruby (Stickler) Summers.

Dean attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1963.

Dean was a farmer for over 50 years. He also worked for Bettis Oil Company, Baker’s Feed & Grain, Superior Machine and retired in 2012 after 20 years with Monroe County Secondary Roads.

Dean was an active member of the E.U.B. Church in Albia and later Trinity United Methodist Church and the Happy Home Sunday School Class for over 60 years. He enjoyed camping, square dancing, playing cards and anything to do with old Red Tractors and riding lawn mowers. But his true love was his family and friends. Whether it was a hayride and wiener roast, holiday gatherings with lots of food, or all the kids lined up to ride with him in a parade, those were the things that put the biggest smile on his face!
