Mark Mitrisin, 66, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born May 30, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Edward and Marjorie (Tucker) Mitrisin.

He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1976. While in high school he worked at Fareway in Oskaloosa.

Following graduation, he took a full-time position and continued to work there for a year. In June of 1977, he went to work at Rolscreen (now Pella Corp.).

On July 1, 1978, he was united in marriage to Julie Plate at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. To this union two daughters were born, Amanda and Sara.

In November of 2016, Mark retired from Pella Corp. after 39 and a half years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and spending time with his dad Ed on the farm. Mark was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities. He was a talented cook and looked forward to opportunities to prepare meals for guests. He also enjoyed cheering for the Pittsburg Steelers and watching NASCAR.

His family includes his wife of over 45 years, Julie Mitrisin of Oskaloosa; two daughters and their husbands, Amanda and Brian Lemke and Sara and Jim Boender of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren, Aubrey, Kayne, and Xavier; his father, Edward Mitrisin of Oskaloosa; his father and mother in law, John and Margaret Plate of Oskaloosa; Julie’s siblings: Larry and Maracell Plate, David and Cindy Plate and Jim and Krys Plate; brother in law, Larry Van Rossum of Oskaloosa; many nieces and nephews including Jodi (Jason) Haines and Ryan Van Rossum; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Mitrisin; a sister, Sharon Van Rossum; a grandson, Samuel Boender; and many aunts and uncles.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday after 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Thursday evening. At 8 p.m. the Rosary will be prayed at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to Oskaloosa Orchestra Boosters, Oskaloosa Booster Club, or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
