Marilyn Conger, age 76, of Sigourney, Iowa, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born on September 16, 1947, the daughter of Leonard and Edith (Havel) Shull in Washington County, Iowa.

Early on she attended country school and later Pekin High School, graduating with the Class of 1966.

On June 29, 1968, she was united in marriage to Raymond K. Conger. They shared 30 years of marriage together until Raymond’s passing in October of 1998.

Marilyn started her working life before her children were born at the glove factory in Fairfield. She then transitioned to doing Ag stats before taking a job at M.C’s Country Sheds where she worked in the kitchen. After she raised her children, she was doing housekeeping work in Fairfield.

Marilyn enjoyed playing cards with her family, jewelry, camping, fishing, trips to Riverside Casino, playing spades, country music, doing puzzles, late night chats with her grandchildren and visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee.

She is survived by her daughters, Kristina (Andy Coleman) Conger of Packwood and Michelle (Jerry Paulos) Glandon of Sigourney; 6 grandchildren: Chelsea (Cody) Branstad, Allison (Chase) Elder, Peyton Glandon, Madison Winegarden, McKenna Winegarden and Morgan Winegarden; 5 great grandchildren: Harrison and Maren Branstad, Willow, Quinn, and Jonah Elder and a great- grandson due in June. She is also survived by many brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a brother, LeRoy Shull; and several brother and sister in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with pastor Danny Carey officiating.
Burial will follow services in the Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, beginning at 10 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. with Marilyn’s family present to greet relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Prairie View Church near Ollie.
