Margy Eileen Calvin, 84, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born August 15, 1937, in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Doris (Scheffers) Dingeman.

Margy attended school until 9th grade.

On September 18, 1956, she was united in marriage to Emmett Furnald. Years later they divorced.
On June 30, 1983, she was united in marriage to Harvey W. Calvin in Osage Beach, Missouri. Harvey passed away on July 11, 2016.

Margy worked as a homemaker health aid for Mahaska Community Health for 4 years before taking a job as a dietary aid in the Old Mahaska Manor. She later returned to work for Mahaska Community Health in August, 1999.

Margy was an active member of the Adventist Church in Knoxville. She enjoyed playing classic country music and was in numerous bands. She also enjoyed karaoke singing classical country gospel music.

Her family includes her children: Doris Furnald, Daniel (& Ann) Furnald, Dorothy Crago and Darrin Calvin; numerous grand and great grandchildren; her step-children: Cynthia (& John) Cunard, Patricia (& Joe) Kasadden and Jacque (& Mick) Green; and her siblings, Donald (& Joan) Dingeman and Victoria (& Clarence) Walter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Calvin; her step-mother, Nellie Dingeman; and two sisters, Mary Morrow and Virginia Simpson.

As was Margy’s wish her body has been cremated.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Jerry Duvall officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
