Man Charged With Robbery Of Sully Bank
On June 13th, 2018 at approximately 12:36 pm, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Great Western Bank (Sully Branch) on a report of a robbery. Employees of the bank reported that a male suspect presented a note indicating that he had a weapon and demanding money.
Bank employees did give an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who then left the bank. Based upon information provided by employees and other witnesses, a person of interest and a suspect vehicle were identified.
The information was broadcast to area law enforcement agencies that assisted in searching for the person and vehicle.
At approximately 1:12 pm, an Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officer located the vehicle westbound on Interstate 80 just west of Colfax. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at the 149-mile marker. One subject was taken into custody.
Jeffery Peer, age 62 of Panora, IA was transported to the Jasper County Jail. He was charged with Robbery 2nd a Class C Felony.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol and the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office.
