Mallory Kate Johnston, age 28, of Fremont, died Saturday, February 15, 2020, in Fremont, Iowa as a result of a motor vehicle accident. She was born Wednesday, May 8, 1991, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Donnie and Wendetta (Boley) Johnston.
Mallory received her GED from Eddyville, Blakesburg, Fremont High School and later earned her CNA License.
Mallory worked as a server and bartender at Courtside Bar and Grill in Ottumwa. She loved her coffee, sweets and organic gardening. She earned the nickname mouse after getting caught sneaking sweets in the middle of the night as a little girl. Above all else, her real joy in life was spending time with her friends and family.
Her family includes her children, Madden Lee Fields and Maxxom James Johnston; her parents, Wendetta Johnston of Oskaloosa and Donnie Johnston of Blakesburg; her siblings: Meghan (& Andy) Ozinga, William Blayne Johnston, and Madelynn Johnston, all of Oskaloosa.
As was Mallory’s wish, her body has been cremated.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, Iowa (405 Myra Ln).
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday at 5:00 PM with the family present to greet friends and relatives.
