OSKALOOSA, IA. Mahaska Health is thrilled to announce the state-of-the-art 2025 Siemens X.Cite CT Scanner for patients in Oskaloosa and the Southeast Iowa region. Computed Tomography (CT) scanners use imaging to show detailed images of the body. This new device will assist the radiology team in enhancing patients’ experience and overall scan results.

The 2025 Siemens X.Cite CT Scanner uses advanced imaging technology to take internal pictures that help doctors diagnose medical conditions. It allows medical teams to see thorough details within the body to better understand what is happening and treat them accordingly.

The technology is designed to deliver extremely precise images while offering patients a fast, more relaxing experience. The CT scanner is open and spacious, has special lighting for a calming effect, and allows the radiology technologist to stand next to the patient in the room during the set-up so patients can feel at ease.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this new technology to the community,” shared Amber Bohnstengel, Mahaska Health Director of Radiology. “What we do is all about the patient experience. Having a scanner like this in the area is a really big deal because it is much more comfortable than typical scanners, it allows for a quick set up and scans so patients can get in and out of their appointments faster, uses lower radiation doses to provide peace of mind, and presents incredibly precise images so the results are impeccably accurate. We’re so grateful to allow community members access to this high-quality care close to home.”

As an Iowa Center of Excellence in Cardiology, Mahaska Health is excited to incorporate this new technology. Mahaska Health is currently offering calcium scoring, ultrasound biopsies, low-dose cancer screenings, and head and neck scans, and will continue to expand the screenings available. Calcium Scoring is an easy and non-invasive test that allows doctors to assess cardiac health by looking at calcium deposits.

During the annual Cholesterol Screening event, Mahaska Health is offering $50 vouchers off the regular price of $100 on a Cardiac Calcium Scoring Test in the new Siemens X.Cite CT Scanner. The event is on Saturday. February 15th, 2025, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am through Mahaska Health Door #4. Registration is encouraged but not required.
