Mahaska Health Partnership Welcomes Family Practice Physician Susan Harte, DO

Family Practice Physician Susan Harte, DOMAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership is pleased to welcome Family Practice Physician Susan Harte, DO, to its Medical Staff.

“Dr. Harte practiced at MHP 18 years ago, working as a locum tenens in our Emergency Department,” MHP CEO Chris Jepsen shared. “She was employed by another company we contracted with to provide Emergency Physician coverage, but she remembered us fondly and we are so excited to have her coming back to Oskaloosa as a fulltime Family Practice Physician.”

Dr. Harte is originally from Colorado. She came to Iowa for medical school at Des Moines University and completed her family practice residency at Broadlawns Medical Center. “My daughter, Brandy, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and still has friends in Iowa,” Dr. Harte said. “As a locum tenens, I have traveled all over the country and practiced medicine in typically underserved and rural areas.

“I enjoyed working to provide medical care in underserved and rural areas. At this point in my career, I made the decision to establish with a primary care practice. I was looking for a good group of people with a focus on quality patient care.”

Dr. Harte said she was very impressed with how the MHP campus has grown over the years. “Oskaloosa is really blessed to have such a wonderful hospital. They have done a great job keeping up with the changes in technology and the philosophy of medicine. They are very aware of what the community needs, which is to offer people a family-friendly medical experience.”

According to Dr. Harte, she is interested in treating patients of all ages and all medical conditions.

“I want my patients to know that I’m going to be there for them and I’ll utilize all my education and experience as a physician to help them with their medical needs,” Dr. Harte stressed. “Patients need to know that they are not alone. When you are a patient, you often have issues and concerns. We will have an honest conversation to determine what we can do together, because it has to be a relationship built on trust.

“I still pray every day, ‘Dear God, help me and my patients,’ as I have ever since medical school.”

Dr. Harte is now accepting new primary care patients of all ages at the MHP Medical Group. For an appointment, call 641.672.3360.
