MAHASKA COUNTY – Gronewold, Bell, Kyhnn & Co. P.C., certified public accountants, have released an audit report on Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

According to Chris Nelson, audit partner, MHP’s revenues totaled $53,005,800 for the fiscal year 2015, which runs from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. This is a 1.2 percent increase from the previous year. The revenues included $48,425,900 in net patient revenue, $1,906,000 of other operating revenue, $1,930,400 from county taxes and $9,900 in interest on investments.

Expenses for the year totaled $53,879,600, a 2.8 percent increase from the prior year, and included $26,196,900 for other professional services, $11,347,900 for nursing services and $8,890,000 for fiscal and administrative services.

“The healthcare environment still remains somewhat challenging in the country and in the state of Iowa,”
said CEO Jay Christensen. “MHP is committed to being fiscally responsible so we can continue making healthcare personal; providing convenient access to medical care when our community needs it.

“Fiscal year 2015 showed some growth and we anticipate further improvements in fiscal year 2016, which ends June 30, 2016.”

Nelson said the increase in revenues and expenses were primarily due to increased physician clinic services, as well as increases in inpatient and outpatient services provided. A copy of the audited report will soon be available for review in the office of the Auditor of State and the Hospital Administrator’s office.
