MAHASKA COUNTY –Mahaska Health Partnership is continuously striving to improve services provided to the community. One way this is achieved is through the acquisition of newer, state-of-the-art technology.

The latest additions, two Siemens Dimension EXL 200 and a Siemens Centaur XP Chemistry Analyzer, were recently installed in MHP Laboratory Services. Not only do these instruments give top of the line speed and accuracy in results for providers and patients, they have a smaller impact on the environment.

According to MHP Director of Laboratory Services Tim Schroeder, the instruments offer many benefits. “We are now able to process more lab tests in-house, further enhancing the detailed accuracy of our results. As an added bonus, results are now available much faster to aid in diagnosis and treatment for patients.”

The three new instruments use a lot less resources. “Our old equipment consumed around 100 gallons of water per hour. These new instruments only take 10 gallons per hour,” Schroeder explained. “They are much more environmentally friendly and efficient, which is always a consideration for organizations of our size.

“Our goal is always to provide the best care and services possible to our community. Our dedication to high standards in MHP Laboratory Services is evidenced by our CAP accreditation (College of American Pathologists) as well as our investment in this upgraded equipment.”

MHP CEO Jay Christensen reiterated the impact these instruments have on improving patient care. “These instruments are used all day, every day. Having improved processes in our support services like Lab filter through to the providers and patients, allowing for faster results and quicker treatment opportunities. This is just another way to equip our outstanding staff with the advanced tools they need to provide the best care possible for our community.”
