Mahaska Health Encourages Community To Take Part In Healthiest State Walk October 7
A Mahaska Health Press Release
Mahaska County – Each October, Mahaska Health challenges their team members to take part in the Healthiest State Annual Walk. This year, the challenge is being extended to the whole community to take part in the Healthiest State 10th Annual Walk on October 7th.
The theme for the 2020 walk is “Team Up for 10.” Healthiest State Initiative, the event’s host, invites all Iowan’s to Team Up for 10 – to help celebrate 10 years of the annual event. Your walk event may look different this year, but we still invite you to “team up” – whether that means with members of your household, in a smaller group, in a socially-distant fashion, or even as a virtual team – and walk on October 7.
Participants may walk wherever they like, at any time during the day, – at home, work, or out on the beautiful Mahaska County Recreation Foundation Trail. The YMCA will also open their doors from 9 AM – 7 PM for walkers who wish to use the treadmill for the Healthiest State Walk. To walk at the YMCA, please bring an ID. All walkers are encouraged to post about their walk on social media and use the hashtag #walkmahaska
To register for the walk, please visit mahaskahealth.org or find the Healthiest State Walk on the Mahaska Health Facebook page. All registrants will be entered to win prizes drawn following the walk. Prizes from local businesses include YMCA gift set with water bottle, a sports program pass for pickle ball or swim lessons, and two pairs of Brooks or Asics shoes from Brown’s Shoe Fit. Participants are eligible to win one prize.
