Mahaska County YMCA Selects Christensen – New CEO

Oskaloosa, IA – Madonna Bowie, President of the Mahaska County Y is pleased to announce the selection of Eric Christensen as the new CEO of the Mahaska County YMCA.

Christensen brings over 30 years of experience in parks and recreation to the Mahaska County YMCA. Most recently, Christensen served as the Executive Director of the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District where he was responsible for overall management of $3 million budget which included two community centers, golf course, and 490 acres of parkland. This also involved partnering with the school district and assisting in receiving a 21st Century grant for the elementary school district. Christensen is very involved in the community and is past president of the local Rotary International.

Christensen is enthusiastic about the opportunity to make the Mahaska County YMCA the very best. He is also looking forward to working with the volunteers and staff to assure a strong Y for future generations. He will work to strengthen the foundation of our community through programs and services that focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Christensen and his wife of 25 years have three college age children, a daughter and two sons. Christensen will be starting April 3rd. Please stop in and introduce yourself and welcome him to the community. April 18th, we’ll host a business after hours to introduce Christensen to the community more details to come.
