Children who have completed Kindergarten through third grade spent the morning of June 18 learning about insects, arthropods and entomologists at the Mahaska County 4-H Bug Zoo Day Camp at the ISU Extension and Outreach building in Oskaloosa. They got to see, touch, hold and learn about a range of insects and arthropods, like meal worms, beetles, and millipedes. Bug Zoo was just one of the day camps held at the Extension office this month. Other camps included Babysitting Basics, Rockin’ Robotics, and Grossology. These camps were made possible by support from the Mahaska County Community Foundation, Mahaska County ISU Extension and United Way of Mahaska County. Visit www.extension.iastate.edu/mahaska/4h or find us on Facebook to learn more about all of the great youth development opportunities available through ISU Extension and Outreach and Mahaska County 4-H.
