Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska Bowl has been a location that many people in the area have enjoyed for decades. It’s provided fun and enjoyment to families, as well as a place to be competitive for bowlers.

William Penn has owned the facility for seven years, and the facility has served as home base for the university’s bowling team.

Tony Witt, manager of Statesmen Lanes, as it’s now known, was happy to release the information to the public, and to showcase some of the work that has gone into the facility.

There are already big differences when you enter the facility. New signage, new paint, and the same desire to make the facility available to the public to use.

There is a lounge downstairs that will soon be available to the public as well. Dart leagues are being formed, and Witt is looking forward to the addition.

Other updates in the future include better handicap accessibility, updated kitchen, and other functional and cosmetic updates.

A refreshed interior of Statesmen Lanes awaits visitors to the facility.

William Penn University Athletics Director Nik Rule spoke to Oskaloosa News about the changes.

“The bowling center in Oskaloosa is a very important recreational facility for our community. There’s no doubt that our community takes great pride in our recreation, and William Penn University felt strongly that it was our duty to provide the best possible facility for the community and for our student-athletes competing on our high achieving intercollegiate bowling teams.”

“The facelift that the facility has received along with a new name and state of the art branding shows a continued commitment for the future of the sport in this area. In addition, Statesmen Lanes is not only a place for bowling but a place for meetings, retreats, Saturday football, and much more. The facility is ready for the future, and it’s here to stay,” explained Rule.
