LUCILLE MANN
July 19, 1935 – September 1, 2017
Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 82

Lucille Mann, 82, of Oskaloosa passed away early Friday morning, September 1, 2017, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Lucille Marie Mann, daughter of Homer and Addie Fern (Ollom) Fowler, was born July 19, 1935, at the home of her parents located on the Keokuk/Mahaska County line.

Lucille attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended Delta High School for two years, before transferring to Oskaloosa High School.

Following her education, Lucille married Bill Winchester in November 1953. They made their home in Montezuma and Delta, and three children, Vicki, Sherri, and Jay were born. Lucille and Bill divorced in 1966. Lucille married William Mann, October 29, 1971, and they made their home in Sigourney.

Lucille worked in Sigourney until 1976, when she moved to Oregon, following Lucille’s brothers who had moved to Oregon in the early 60’s because of job opportunities.

Lucille and William divorced in 2001 and Lucille returned to Iowa in 2005. For 10 years, Lucille would spend part of the year in Iowa and the rest in Oregon with her son, Jay and his family, until travel became too difficult for her in 2015.

Lucille had planned one last trip to Oregon to watch the solar eclipse on August 21st, when she suddenly became ill and was admitted to Mahaska Health Partnership August 11th. Lucille spent two weeks at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines before being transferred to MHP Serenity house on August 31.

Lucille’s children and grandchildren were her world. One of her last delights was a surprise visit by her son, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren from Oregon and Colorado while she was in Mercy Hospital. Lucille was also a bargain shopper, she loved garage sales and visiting the thrift stores.

Her family includes her three children: Vicki Winchester of Oskaloosa, Sherri (& Bill) Finders of Oskaloosa and Jay (& Janine) Winchester of Carlton, Oregon; six grandchildren: Dana Abell (& Shane Buseman), Justin (& Becky) Abell, Bill (& Christie) Winchester, Aaron (& Sara) Finders, Angie (& Jamie) Smith, and Lindsey Winchester (& Cameron Meyer); three step-grandchildren: Amber (& Matt) Brown, Tara (& Chad) Schumacher, and Cory (& Livia) Schumacher; ten great-grandchildren: Hayley Abell, Jasmine Abell, Julie Finders Fairchild, Emily Winchester, Jake Winchester, Zeke Winchester, Kane Kinders, Waylon Meyers, Olin Finders, and Curtis Meyers; and six step-great-grandchildren: Kaden Sutton, Maddison Brown, Ryder Schumacher, Landon Brown, Riley Estes and Noah Estes.

She is also survived by two brothers: Dale (& Phyllis) Fowler of Oskaloosa and Doyle (& Betty) Fowler of Oregon; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Fowler of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her sisters: Elma Sutton and Darlene Smith; brothers: Dwight, Kenny, Gilbert and Bob Fowler; and two grandsons: Christopher and Adam Finders.

As was her wish, Lucille’s body has been cremated.
Her ashes will be buried privately at White Oak Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House.
