Lucille M. Weber, age 101, formerly of Ollie, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, Iowa.
Lucille was born June 8, 1912, in Chelahis, Washington, the daughter of Harry and Gertie Spurgeon Shy. She graduated from Ollie High School in 1928.
Lucille was united in marriage to Walter Weber, February 14, 1931, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He passed away February 27th, 1978.
She worked for most of her life helping on the farm in addition to being employed as a cook for 18 years at Keokuk County Hospital, currently known as the Keokuk County Health Center, in Sigourney before retiring.
Lucille was a very talented seamstress, a marvelous cook, and enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star which she thoroughly enjoyed, and a past member of the Ollie United Methodist Church. Lucille was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and an overall great person.
Lucille is survived by her two sons: Frank (Norma) Weber of Milan, Illinois, Larry (Joyce ) Weber of Ollie; and a daughter: Trilla (Forrest) Christner of Ollie; a half brother: Henry (Hank) Shy of Yuma, Arizona; three grandchildren: Lisa Weber of Milan, Illinois, Cecilia Adam of Fairfield, Iowa, and Mark (Tycene) Weber of Batavia, Iowa; six great-grandchilden: Nicolas Petri, Jordan and Alex Weber, Aaron and Angela Adam, and Briale Kessel; and a grand-daughter-in-law: Sandra Weber.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; her parents; step-mother: Edna Shy; a brother: Raymond Shy; three grandsons: Cris Kessel, Rick Kessel, and Frank Weber Jr.; two sons-in-law: Clyde Kessel and Keith Wonderlich.
As was her wish, Lucille’s body has been cremated.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on May 3, 2014, at the Ollie Baptist Church, with Reverend Carla Nelson officiating.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., May 3, 2014, and continue until the time of the service.
Interment will be at the Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie, Iowa
Memorials may be made in her name to the Ollie Baptist Church, Manor House Care Center, Sigourney, or Iowa Hospice*.
