Louise Gray, 69 of Knoxville and formerly of Montezuma passed away Saturday evening, February 24, 2018 at the Knoxville Hospital. Louise Carolyn Gray, the daughter of Melvin and Gwenda (Jones) Walker, was born on December 7, 1948 in Montezuma, Iowa.

Louisa was a 1967 graduate of Montezuma High School.

Louise was married to Kenneth Gray on July 2, 1967 in Montezuma. To this union three children were born: Sarah, Scott and Tamara. They lived in Montezuma and she managed the Star Lanes Café. She also lived several years in Barnes City.

Louise received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing in 1983 from Indian Hills Community College. Following graduation, Louise’s family moved to Knoxville and she worked at the VA Hospital. She worked as a nurse for several years before she was promoted to a case manager, retiring in 2009.

Louise was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy, sewing and bird watching. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren’s activities.

Her memory will be honored by her children: Sarah Gray of Knoxville, Scott (& Jennifer) Gray of Knoxville and Tamara (& Brian) Shearer of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren: Lucas (& Brenna) Gray, Joseph Gray, Anthony (& Miggie) Gray, Dylan (& Jessica Johnson) Mefford, Brandon (& Courtney Jones) Shearer, Michael Gray, Bradley Shearer, Devin Doggett, Deidra Doggett and Elizabeth Gray; 10 great grandchildren; four siblings: Melvin (& Linda) Walker of Springfield, MO, Marvin (& Marie) Walker of Des Moines, Margaret (& Dennis) Hutchinson of Montezuma and Meryll (& Jim) Hicks of Montezuma; and other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gwenda Walker; and a great grandson, Emmett Cheman.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Following the service, her body will be cremated and burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
