Loebsack Announces Rural Development Funding for Mahaska County Hospital

Mahaska Health Partnership

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that the Mahaska County Hospital will receive a $26,400 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Economic Impact Initiatives program. The Mahaska County Hospital will use these funds to purchase a new telemetry (heart rhythm display) machine.

“Residents of rural communities, such as those in Mahaska County, deserve to have access to the same medical care and technology as someone living in a larger community,” said Loebsack. “I am pleased the Mahaska County Hospital is receiving this competitive funding.”

This new equipment will allow the hospital to electronically capture all patient information. The existing equipment is aging, and all information is tracked and reported on paper copies. The new equipment will be able to communicate with the electronic medical files.
