OSKALOOSA, IA — “It’s your move!” George is a hometown musical featuring 50+ local actors and musicians. With songs like “It’s A Gorgeous Day on the Square,” George is an Oskaloosa musical you can’t see anywhere else. Photos from the Chuck Russell Photo Collection help bring local history to life on stage.

The musical, written by Iola Powell Cadwallader, has only been performed once in 2002. It depicts the life of George Daily and his legacy. With familiar landmarks and characters spanning 70 years of Oskaloosa history, George is a celebration of community, friendship, leaving your mark, and the George Daily Auditorium’s 20th anniversary.

There will be an open house celebration of the Auditorium’s 20th anniversary on Sunday, August 13th. Displays will be set out about the history of the Auditorium and George Daily’s life, including his bicycle, courtesy of Musco Lighting, and the cash register he used at Holub’s Market, courtesy of Shirley Holub-Masterson. Commemorative checkerboards designed by FACE of the Oskaloosa bandstand, Chief Mahaska, and George Daily will be on display and available to bid on as a fundraiser for their organization.

George is on Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 13 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and are available by calling (641) 672-0799, online at www.georgedaily.org, or at the George Daily Auditorium box office.
