Live Pro Wrestling Coming to Oskaloosa’s Penn Central Mall
Oskaloosa, IA – Oskaloosa will witness an electrifying event on August 3rd as Central Empire Wrestling (CEW) brings live pro wrestling to the center court of the Penn Central Mall. This much-anticipated event marks a significant milestone for CEW, which has been part of the Oskaloosa community since 2007, hosting events at various venues like the YMCA and Nelson Pioneer Farm.
Oskaloosa News recently sat down with Austin Bayliss of CEW to discuss this groundbreaking event. “It’s great to be back in Oskaloosa. August 3rd, we’re doing something we wanted to do for 18 years. We’re going to put on a live pro wrestling show in center court of the Penn Central Mall,” Bayliss announced enthusiastically.
This event promises to be a grand spectacle, featuring a main event Royal Rumble with wrestlers from CEW’s past 18 years, including legends who haven’t wrestled in years. Bayliss highlighted the significance of the venue, capable of accommodating 500 to 800 attendees, which presents a significant opportunity for both CEW and the local community. “With Oskaloosa being our home base, I feel like we should be doing that here. The potential for being in a venue like the Penn Central Mall is big for this community,” he added.
The highlight of the night will be the CEW Championship match featuring Oskaloosa’s own Brian Gott. “Brian actually retired from professional wrestling six years ago to the weekend in Oskaloosa. So this is his first time back,” Bayliss noted, emphasizing the personal significance for the wrestler and the local audience. Brian will be competing against the current champion, Rory Fox.
In addition to the main event, the show will feature several other local and returning wrestling stars. JP Harlow, a rising star who grew up in the Eddyville area, will be competing alongside the CEW Tag Team Champions against formidable opponents. Other notable returns include Tommy Ace and Major Pain, who haven’t wrestled for CEW in 11 years, and David Cox, also known as Chops, a former CEW Tag Team Champion.
Bayliss also mentioned a special local participant, Eddie Pierson, known for his involvement in the community and now making his wrestling debut. “Eddie Pierson is going to be in the rumble. He’s a big wrestling fan and has come to a lot of our shows. Eddie is ready to throw down,” Bayliss revealed.
The event is designed to be a family-friendly show, aligning with CEW’s tradition of all-ages entertainment. Tickets for the event start at $20 for general admission, with front-row seats available for $30. Tickets can be purchased online at the Central Empire Wrestling website, ensuring a smooth and convenient process for attendees.
“We’ve been lucky here. This is home no matter where we go. Being able to showcase our abilities and entertainment here, the upside is phenomenal,” Bayliss concluded, expressing his hopes for the event’s success and future potential to bring even more significant wrestling events to Oskaloosa.
The doors open at 6:00 PM on August 3rd, with the show starting at 7:00 PM. Concessions and opportunities to meet and greet the wrestlers will be available, making it a memorable night for all attendees.
