LIBRARY TO HOST SPECIAL CONCERT FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Oskaloosa, IA – The Oskaloosa Public Library invites toddlers and preschoolers to an upcoming concert with special guest musician Miss Julie. The show will be held Monday October 7 at 10:30 a.m. on the third floor of the library.

Miss Julie is a children’s librarian and musician with over twelve years of experience working with young children. Her high energy performances are ideal for wiggly toddlers, preschoolers, and their families.

Miss Julie, like Ella Jenkins and Jim Gill, forgoes flash in favor of presenting songs simply and clearly so kids and adults alike can learn and play along. She’s not afraid to be silly and always makes sure everyone in the crowd is having just as much fun as she is.

“Music is an important component of early literacy,” says Youth Librarian, Liz Anderson. Music is a part of the library’s collection and regular storytimes. “Hearing music can help children learn the rhythm of language and pick out the individual sounds that make whole words.”
