Letter To The Editor: I’m writing this letter of support for Tom Rielly

When government is run more like an open business, it protects taxpayers and simply gets more done. As you consider who you support for the special election for County Supervisor, consider putting the person with 15 years of public service as Mayor and State Senator, and a lifetime of private sector business experience to work for us. In this case, it’s Tom Rielly. I may be in a different political party than Tom, but we share an interest in jobs, economy, community and protecting the taxpayer.

Tom is campaigning on reducing government by sharing more services between city and county government. As State Senator he was recognized by State agriculture organizations for being supportive of important agricultural programs. As a former state senator and mayor, and many years of experience operating a private business, Tom can get the job done.

Many communities like ours across Iowa are dying. Unlike those communities, innovation in Mahaska County has made us a leader in job creation. If we want a place for our children and grandchildren to come home to, then we need leaders who will continue innovating to grow our community.

I’m writing this letter of support for Tom Rielly because I believe he will continue his good work of leading our area in a positive direction to provide a future for our youth, families and community. I hope you will consider a vote for Tom on Tuesday.
