Lela Mae Strovers Brush of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away August 24th, 2017 at Millers Senior Living Community in Indianapolis. Lela was born in Kellogg, Iowa on November 11, 1930 the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Clay) Strovers.

Lela attended Grinnell schools and was a GHS graduate of the class of 1949. She also attended Grinnell College for one year.

Lela was united in marriage to Bruce Brush on September 20, 1952 at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. They had two sons, Thomas and Gregory. The marriage later ended in divorce.

The young Brush family moved to Carmel, IN in 1962, and remain in the Indianapolis area still. Lela lovingly raised both sons at home and also found time to do the bookkeeping for the family businesses for four decades.

Lela loved band music, playing the baritone in school and in community bands for many years. She enjoyed piloting the family airplane for several years, making several trips around the United States with the plane.

Those left to honor her memory include her two sons: Thomas Brush of Indianapolis, IN and Gregory (& Maureen) Brush of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Clifford (& Marilyn) Strovers of Grinnell; a Sister, Martha (& Norman) Noe of Greeley, CO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gladys Strovers.

Graveside memorial services will begin at 10:00 am Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the West Liberty Cemetery 7 miles west of Montezuma at the corner of Hwy 146 and Diamond Trail Road with Pastor George Salnave officiating.
