Larry Greene, age 73, of Tracy, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa, surrounded by his family. Larry was born on February 2, 1948, in Creston, Iowa.

Larry attended Chariton High School and graduated with the Class of 1966.

In June of 1967 he was united in marriage to Doris Eighme. They had 2 children, Lori and Kevin. Larry and Doris later divorced.
In May of 1996, he was united in marriage to Sandy Vance in Nashua, Iowa.

Following high school, Larry went to work for his parents at their grain elevator. In 1969 he moved to Tracy and began farming and working at the grain elevator in Tracy and retired in 2013. After retirement he went to work part time at Shrago’s in Oskaloosa.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, checking his crops, playing card games, taking Sandy to dinner and a movie and stopping at Casey’s for donuts and coffee (even though he wasn’t supposed too). His real joy in life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Greene of Tracy; his children: Lori Richards (& Brenton) of Kellogg, Kevin (& Shannon) Greene of Tracy; his step-children: Shari Vance of Tracy and Amanda (& Kevin) Langstraat of Pella; his grandchildren: Zachary (& Katelynn) Greene of Tracy, Dustin (& Mary) Richards of Tracy, Nicholas Greene of Tracy, and Jeremy Richards of Tracy, Victoria (& Chris) Engelby of Oskaloosa, Deryk Bingham of Bussey, Daryan Johnson of Corning, and Sage Langstraat and Erica Langstraat of Pella; 10 great grandchildren; his siblings: Phillip (& Kathy) Greene of Tracy, Patrice (& Sam) Wallace and Bonnie (& Dick) Ray of Gallatin, Tennessee, Christine (& Rich) Veenstra of Tracy and Mark (& Barb) Greene of Knoxville. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sheila Greene of Chariton, an ex-son-in-law, Gene Richards of Tracy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and a brother, Terry Greene.

As was his wish, Larry’s body will be cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Clay Township Fire Department.
