Lady Statesmen Still 27th Entering Offseason

William Penn Women's Athletics

Oskaloosa–The William Penn softball team’s third national tournament appearance helped it to a lofty ranking as the NAIA released its postseason poll Tuesday.

The Lady Statesmen (46-19) remain #27 with 107 points, 28 more than they had in the final regular season poll. The squad was the only representative from the Midwest Collegiate Conference all year and is the only team from the state of Iowa in the postseason ranking as well.

Shorter is #1 after winning its first national title. The Lady Hawks (53-11) were a perfect 7-0 at nationals and own 560 points and all 20 first-place votes. Oklahoma City, Cal State-San Marcos, Brenau (Ga.), and Central Baptist (Ark.) round out the top five.
