Ladona Anderson, 92 of Montezuma, passed away Sunday morning, April 22, 2018 at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Ladona Marlene Anderson, the daughter of Hefmon and Lydia (Schrader) Davis, was born on May 31, 1925 in Hartwick, Iowa.

Ladona was a 1943 graduate of Montezuma High School.

Ladona worked at the Brownell’s Maid Rite where she met Lyle Anderson in 1945. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1946 at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. To this union two sons were born, Bill and Danny.

Ladona worked for Brownell’s Industries before they purchased the men’s clothing store in 1957 changing the name to Anderson Clothing. Ladona worked side by side with her husband until they sold the store to their son, Danny, in 1975. Ladona continued to work for Danny until he sold the store in 1980 when she retired.

Ladona enjoyed wintering in Phoenix, coffeetime with friends, going out to eat and attending dances. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities and visits. She also enjoyed the big family get togethers and dinners. She was an avid card player and looked forward to playing cards and dominoes at the Montezuma Country Club every Tuesday evening.

She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church, a neighbor card club, KYN Club and the Montezuma Country Club.

Ladona’s memory will be honored by her sons, Bill Anderson of Urbandale and Danny (& Therese) Anderson of Montezuma; four grandchildren: Curt Anderson, Mark (& Melissa) Anderson, Christy McCaslen and Amy Anderson Peck; eight great grandchildren: Sapphire Gatton, Riley Gatton, Maddux Anderson, Madison Anderson, Mackenzie Anderson, Corbin Peck, Braxton Peck and Reece McCaslen; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle Anderson; and four sisters, LaVonne McCaulley, Virginia Johnston, Phyllis Osborn and Dema Hall.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department or the Montezuma Specialty Care.
