Lacy, Soderblom Both Finish Fourth at Home Tourney

Oskaloosa–The William Penn wrestling team returned to action Saturday by facing a deep and talented field at its own William Penn Open.

141-pounder Marshawn Lacy (Jr., Chicago, Heights, Ill., Computer Science) and 197-pounder Kyle Soderblom (Jr., Newton, Iowa, Biology) both placed fourth in their respective weight classes. Lacy was 2-2, while Soderblom was a bit better at 4-2.

The ten weight class champions were all from NCAA Division I or Division II programs, including eight from college’s highest division.

Charlton Benjamin (Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Sociology) also notched multiple victories, claiming two major decisions at 157 pounds.

Falls came from 141-pounder Logan Loftus (Fr., Marengo, Iowa, Industrial Technology), 157-pounder Christian Padilla (Jr., Tampa, Fla., Secondary Education), and 165-pounders Jay Fresh (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Sociology) and Ishmael Rempson (Jr., Olympia Heights, Ill., Industrial Technology).

141-pounder Brad Watson (So., Rolla, Mo., Physical Education) won once by major decision and 174-pounder Nick Wise (So., Phoenix, Ariz., Biology) had his hand raised one time as well.

Next: William Penn travels to Pella next Saturday to compete in the Central Invitational.
