Kyong Beason, 67, of New Sharon and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, at her home in New Sharon. She was born November 5, 1950, in Sannae-Myon, Cholla-Pukdo, South Korea, the daughter of Hung Kwon Chon and Ye Pi Choe.

Kyung attended school in Korea.

On September 23, 1977, she was united in marriage to Donald Beason in South Korea. Following their marriage she moved to the United States with Donald.

Kyong was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and fishing. She delighted in spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Her family includes her two daughters and their husbands, Terri and Aaron Menefee of New Sharon and Tara and Raymond Welch of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Odessa Menefee, Odiya Menefee, Merick Welch and Koy Welch; a great granddaughter due any day; four sisters, KyongOk Chon, Kyonghe Chon, KyongSuk Chon, and KyongSu Chon all in South Korea; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; and her parents.

As was Kyong’s wish her body has been cremated.
A time of remembrance will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2018, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the McVey Family Center in New Sharon, Iowa.
