April 30th, 2024 – OSKALOOSA, IA — The town of Oskaloosa, Iowa, is gearing up for a special visit from NASCAR legend Kyle Petty and an impressive lineup of celebrity riders as they pass through on the 28th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. This year’s event, taking place on Monday, May 6, at Kelderman Manufacturing, promises to be a highlight as it continues its week-long, 2,100-mile journey from South Dakota to North Carolina.

The annual ride, which first revved up in 1995, is a major charitable effort to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction. Founded in 2004 by Petty and his family in memory of his late son, Adam, Victory Junction is a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic medical illnesses. Since its inception, the ride has raised over $21 million, supporting the camp and other children’s charities, with more than 9,100 riders logging nearly 12.8 million cumulative motorcycle miles.

This year’s event in Oskaloosa is expected to draw large crowds eager to support the cause and witness over 150 motorcycles make their grand entrance. Among the celebrity riders joining Kyle Petty are famed personalities, including Richard Petty, Herschel Walker, and Ken Schrader. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the celebrities, collect autographs (limit of two items per person), and purchase memorabilia, with proceeds going towards the charity. Items available for purchase include T-shirts and hats, each priced at $15, with all transactions being handled in cash or check only.

Supporters are also encouraged to contribute to the “Small Change. Big Impact.” program, and donations will be accepted at each stop to bolster the fundraising efforts further.

Residents and visitors are advised to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot as the event kicks off at 1:00 PM.
