Kids’ Fishing Day
Saturday, June 8, 2013
9:00 am – Noon
Russell Wildlife Area
Bring your family and friends out to the Russell Wildlife Area on Saturday, June 8th for the Mahaska County Conservation Board’s annual Kids’ Fishing Day. This day is a special opportunity for families to go fishing together – it’s free fishing weekend in Iowa which means fishing licenses are not needed! At this event, kids that register at the conservation center can compete for the “Biggest Fish” and “Smallest Fish” trophies. A limited number of fishing poles and bait will be available to use. However, feel free to bring your own. Registration begins at 8:30 am at the conservation center and the fishing will be held from 9:00 – 11:15 am. Door prizes and trophies will be given out at that time and the event should be over by noon. There is no cost for this event.
The Russell Wildlife Area is located at 2254 – 200th Street, New Sharon, Iowa. It is four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street. For more information, contact the Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)673-9327.
