Kay E. Dinsmore, 72, of Ottumwa passed away August 15, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Kay was born Thursday, January 9, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of James Ward and Helen Fern Latham Dunn. She graduated valedictorian from Fremont High School with the class of 1959, where she participated in marching band, played basketball, and enjoyed riding her horse “Lady”.
On June 2, 1963, Kay was united in marriage to Larry Dinsmore, then later divorced. Kay was proud of her banking career. She worked many years at Union Bank and Trust. She also worked for a time at First Star Bank, then at Mahaska State Bank, before retiring from South Ottumwa Savings Bank in 1997.
Kay was a member of Business and Professional Women and The Red Hat Society, and attended the First United Methodist Church. Kay enjoyed going shopping, traveling, and collecting coins. She was very proud of her grandchildren and delighted in spending time with them and attending their activities.
Her family includes her two wonderful daughters Brook (Ted) Baxter of Ankeny, IA, and Jana (Kerry) Lake of New Sharon, IA; four grandchildren, Kody and Kourtney Lake and Brandon and Ashley Baxter; a sister, Shirley (Rex) Baxter of Fremont, IA; and a brother, Gary (Dodie) Dunn of Waterloo, IA.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation: Open after 12:00 noon with family present from 2:00 until 4:00 PM August 18, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. August 19, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel, Fremont, Iowa
Interment: Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery (South) Fremont, Iowa
Memorials may be made in her name the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association or The Salvation Army of Ottumwa, Iowa.
