Kathryn Maxwell, 82, of What Cheer, died at home on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Kathy Maxwell was born on January 26, 1939 in Collins, Iowa, the daughter of Curt and Alice Marsh.

Kathryn was a first team-all conference basketball player, homecoming queen, and graduate of Kellogg High School in 1957. She later attended Indian Hills where she studied Radiology.

On July 8th, 1961, Kathy was united in marriage to Carmen Maxwell in Kellogg, Iowa.

Kathy was a proud farm-wife. She had a passion for sports, especially basketball, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. She loved to spend time outdoors, garden, and was involved in many mural and restoration projects for the community. Kathy was a wonderful cook who mastered the art of homemade beef and noodles. Most of all, Kathy deeply cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her husband, Carmen Maxwell of What Cheer; her children, Brad Maxwell of What Cheer; four grandchildren, Rebekah (Matthew) Haynie, Josh (Sammy) Maxwell, Dinah Maxwell, and Sarah Maxwell; Corey (Kim) Maxwell of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Brittany (Brian) Metz, Seth (Jackie) Maxwell, and Maggie (Tyler) Bartlow; Wade Maxwell of Gibson; grandchild Jessie Maxwell; sister Marilyn (Steve) Barger; nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father and mother; sisters Jean Weir and Judy Dunshee; brothers Curt Marsh Jr., Fred Marsh, Lewis Marsh, and Jim Marsh; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Virginia Maxwell.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Holland Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation will also be held on Thursday, beginning at 10:00 am.
Burial will be held privately in the McFarlan Cemetery at What Cheer.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
